Each year at its Convocation, The Presbyterian College grants the honorary doctorate (Doctor of Divinity, honoris causa) to an eligible candidate who has demonstrated faithful service to Christ and the church over many years.
The degree is awarded by The Board of Governors of the college for outstanding contributions in at least two of the following six areas, with special attention being given to outstanding contributions in relation to the Reformed and Presbyterian tradition, but not excluding other Christian traditions:
(a) theological scholarship;
(b) theological education (not restricted to theological colleges);
(c) preaching ministry, normally over a period of at least twenty years;
(d) pastoral ministry;
(e) service to the denomination;
(f) service to the wider community.
