Dr. Lisa Weaver has been named this year's speaker for Convocation, which will take place on the evening of May 5, 2022. Dr. Weaver will also give the Graduates'/Alison Stewart-Patterson Lecture* which is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on the day of convocation.
The Presbyterian College is excited to welcome Dr. Lisa Weaver as the guest speaker for the 2022 Convocation events. Dr. Weaver currently serves as a professor of worship at Columbia Seminary, an institution of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). She is passionate about examining the connections between liturgy and life and is actively involved in the work of helping churches develop strong liturgical practices. Weaver is a contributor to the Calvin Symposium on Worship and was a member of the core committee that prepared One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism: An African American Ecumenical Hymnal (GIA Publications).
Dr. Weaver holds degrees from The City University of New York (B.A.), Columbia University Teachers College (M.A.), Union Theological Seminary (M.Div.), and The Catholic University of America (M.Phil. and Ph.D.). She was ordained by the American Baptist Churches U.S.A. in 2000 and has extensive pastoral and teaching experience.

Stewart-Patterson was a gifted pastor and leader who graduated from The Presbyterian College (1977) and served as a pastor in several congregations in Montreal and New Zealand. She also completed graduate studies at Fuller Seminary and was a gifted musician. The Rev. Stewart-Patterson passed away in 1992 and we are grateful to honour her memory in this way.
